Pastoral Letter from Father Tom

Dear Parishioners,

The page marked Church Organizations & Ministries is meant for two purposes.

First of all, it is meant to give you a picture of parish life at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The directory of mass times, parish ministers and description of parish ministries herein will help you learn about the many programs, services and ministries of our parish. Each Catholic Christian has the responsibility, at every age, of forming ourselves in understanding and practicing our Faith through worship, education, community life and outreach. It is our belief that this experience is richer as we come together to share that process for mutual support and fellowship. I invite every person to make use of these formative resources available at Blessed Sacrament.

The second purpose of this booklet is to encourage each person to make the next step to become involved in ministry. Part of my encouragement is purely practical. It takes the work of many people to offer the activities that make us a healthy Catholic faith community. Worship alone requires the efforts of about 75 ministers each weekend! But the other side of this is that it is in serving that we share more deeply the life of Jesus Christ. The prayer of St. Theresa of Avila reminds us: Christ has no body now but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which He looks compassion on this world. Christ has no body now on earth but yours. It is in ministry that we seek to share in the life and ministry of Christ, as His body, hands, feet and eyes. Please join us in this noble purpose.

Finally, I encourage you to financial stewardship. Your financial contributions enable us to provide the facilities and professional staff that make this possible. Because each person's financial situation is different, we ask you to make an honest assessment of what you can contribute to our ministry. As God has given to us, so we give to His Work.

As your pastor, I invite you to join our community in the work of Christ. May all who come here find a community when God is alive in our minds and hearts.
